Edwardian jewelry rose to prominence during the reign of King Edward (1901-1909).
During this era, large and bold machine-made jewelry, considered innovative during the Victorian era, started to be rejected for ethereal and delicate hand-crafted pieces. Inspired by eighteenth-century jewelry designs, garlands, ribbons, laurel wreaths, bow knots, tassels, and lace with knife-sharp-edged borders of softballs and ridges were often featured.
